Responsibilities

The Member Programs Coordinator will implement and administer one or more member facing programs, typically consisting of multiple projects or sub-projects by performing the following duties.

1.  Assist MRES members in understanding, communicating and leveraging the value of public power and MRES. This may include, but not limited to, community development support, a utility best practices program, the Ambassador Program, and the Municipal Power Advantage Program (MPA). Coordinates initiatives designed to promote MRES and its services to the community.

2.  Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with departmental staff, municipal employees and policy makers; develops relationships with community leaders and serves as the organization’s liaison with various constituents; coordinate messaging and continuous engagement with the ambassadors.

3.  Leads and grows various MRES member programs to include, but not limited to, the Ambassador Program, Community Sponsorship Program, School Program and Scholarship Program.

4. Assists with the Municipal Power Advantage Program (MPA):                       

    a. Coordinates the date gathering, analysis, and report development of the MPA Program.                                                                                     

    b.  Presents MPA to members, their governing boards, and local civic organizations.                                                                                             

    c.  Assists members in developing communication plans to leverage the MPA results and value of public power campaign.

5.  Researches and communicates funding opportunities including tax incentives, loan programs, federal and state grants, and other funding sources. Completing and coordinating grant applications and reports when applicable for MRES.

6. Develops relationships with key state, regional, and local economic development organizations. 

  

Responsibilities cont.

7.  Executes programs that meet the needs of MRES and its members and implements various tracking of programs and utilization procedures.

8.  Develops new business and expands services, ensures adherence to master plans and budgeting, staffing, schedules, performance, and develops solutions to program problems.

9.  Create and discuss the importance of utility best practices and how implementing policies and procedures and monitoring key performance indicators (KPI) and other benchmarks will benefit them; evaluates program effectiveness by collecting and analyzing data in support of KPI.

10.  Works with members to develop community profiles including demographics and advantages of location (transportation, work force, education, etc.); acts as advisor to program team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.

11.  Frequently travels, up to 40%, to member locations and to conferences with occasional overnight says.

12. Represents MRES on industry, development, and project committees, task forces, and conferences as assigned.

Education and/or Experience 
Bachelor’s degree with at least some coursework in Public or Business Administration and five years related experience in member services or economic development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills 
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills 
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Spreadsheet software; and Word Processing software. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
