Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

1. Develops, executes, and manages creative marketing and communications strategies to internal and external audiences through written materials and publications, press releases, social media, templates, events, programs, and services; this includes, but is not limited to, the Value of Public Power, the employee newsletter, MRES Today, MRES Annual Report, Bright Energy SolutionsÒ, the Municipal Power AdvantageÒ report, other departmental requests, and key company initiatives.

2. Directs, develops, and executes ideas and opportunities for feature articles, interviews, presentations, and marketing and communications campaigns and strategies that promote awareness of the company and the organization’s point of view.

3. Directs, develops, and executes a variety of communication activities, including writing, editing, scripting, and producing.

4. Analyzes and evaluates communication strategies to modify outreach for successful outcomes.

5. Facilitates MRES members and employees in understanding, and marketing and communicating the Value of Public Power, Bright Energy SolutionsÒ, the Municipal Power AdvantageÒ report, social media, and other departmental programs and requests.

6. Ensures appropriate implementation of the MRES corporate brand in written collateral, including publications, presentations, etc.

7. Establishes and fosters collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with departmental staff, member employees, and other stakeholders.

8. Manages development, content, and maintenance of MRES and BES websites.

9. Manages and maintains database of media contacts.

10. Uses project management software and techniques to ensure efficiencies and achievement of established goals.

11. Takes photos and videos at corporate events and other activities, including, but not limited to, the MRES Annual Meeting.

12. Represents MRES on industry, development, and project committees, task forces, and conferences as assigned.

13. Creates and maintains permanent documentation of projects, data, and software related to this position.

14. Keeps abreast of relevant profession, industry, and inter‑utility developments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education and/or Experience - Bachelor's degree or equivalent to a four-year college degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or similar course of study and minimum five years relevant experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills - Ability to write marketing and communications content, including news releases, website content, speeches, and publication articles that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to create speeches, presentations, and/or written materials and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Decision-making Ability - Possesses a professional breadth of knowledge to be able to make decisions in a variety of complex and ambiguous circumstances requiring critical thinking and analytical abilities.

Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, the individual should be highly computer literate in Adobe and Microsoft Office products using a Mac. Knowledge of content management software is a plus. Training and/or experience should include content writing for all media platforms. Graphic design, videography, and photography skills are a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  - Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
