Responsibilities
Performs the analysis and evaluation of transmission facilities and recommends transmission service arrangements by performing the following duties.
Other duties may be assigned.
Transmission Engineer I:
1. Develops and maintains transmission models.
2. Performs and evaluates transmission studies and performs economic analysis.
3. Reviews contracts, and pricing alternatives for transmission service.
4. Reviews transmission facility ratings and ensures that assets are rated according to that facility ratings methodology.
5. Prepares regulatory reports, Regional Transmission Organization related, and inter-utility reports, presentations, applications, and data submittals for the Agency and member owned transmission.
6. Assists in the administration of transmission contracts (interconnection service, transmission).
7. Participates in assigned Regional Transmission Organization and inter-utility transmission studies.
8. Assists in planning and oversight of maintenance and operation activities for transmission facilities.
9. Monitors, and documents the maintenance and testing of transmission facilities.
10. Represents the Agency on industry, development, and project committees, task forces, and conferences as assigned.
11. Maintains permanent documentation of projects, data, and software related to this position.
12. Keeps abreast of relevant profession, industry, and inter utility developments.

Education and/or Experience
Transmission Engineer I:
Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc (ABET) accredited school in Electrical Engineering and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Transmission Engineer II:
Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc (ABET) accredited school in in Electrical Engineering and approximately three to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree in related field is preferred but not required.
Transmission Engineer III:
Bachelor's degree from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology, Inc (ABET) accredited school in Electrical Engineering and approximately seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree in related field is preferred but not required.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Transmission Engineer I, II, III
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Professional Engineering license is preferred but not required. Project Management Professional certification is preferred but not required.
